Intended use: A general purpose nutritious broth capable of growing a wide range of bacteria and fungi. The single strength medium is recommended by the USP and EP for the sterility testing of pharmaceutical products. In concentrated form the medium is recommended for the validation of aseptic processes.

Interpretation: After 1:5 dilution, growth in the medium is indicated by turbidity compared to an uninoculated control. Subculture to appropriate media for identification.
